Recly
Recly records audio from watches, phones, and computers, then stores recordings and transcripts in the user's Google Drive. Professionals can transcribe on-device or with their own provider key and use an AI agent to create notes.
One of 46 tools in Transcription
Who it's for
- Professionals who want to start recordings from a Galaxy Watch or Apple Watch and keep the files in their Google Drive.
- Teams capturing Zoom, Teams, or Meet calls on Mac or Windows who want separate microphone and call-audio tracks.
- People already using an AI agent for notes who want it to work from transcript files in Drive.
Not the right fit if…
- People who need on-device speaker separation: the page states that on-device transcription does not separate speakers.
- People who need watch recordings to upload directly without a paired phone: watches hand recordings off to the phone for upload and transcription.
How it fits your workflow
Start a recording on a watch, phone, Mac, or Windows PC. On desktop, the app can detect a meeting and ask before capturing the microphone and the other side of a Zoom, Teams, or Meet call as separate tracks.
Recly uploads the original recording to the user's Google Drive. Watch recordings first pass to the paired phone; if offline, uploads wait and retry. The user can then choose on-device transcription, a provider configured with their own API key, or upload-only mode.
The transcript is written as a file next to the recording in Drive. An AI agent can read it and create notes with Recly's example skills, including a skill that saves notes to Notion.
Pricing
Free: Recly is free and open source. On-device transcription is free with no minute cap where a supported device engine is available; external provider usage is charged at that provider's rate.

Key features
- Recording across devices
- Record from Galaxy Watch, Apple Watch, iPhone, macOS, or Windows. Galaxy Watch recording can start with a double press of the home key; Apple Watch recording uses one tap or the Action button on an Ultra.
- Desktop meeting capture
- The Mac menu-bar app and Windows tray app can detect a meeting and ask before capturing microphone audio and the other side of a Zoom, Teams, or Meet call as separate tracks.
- Google Drive storage
- Original recordings are uploaded to a folder in the user's Google Drive. Uploads wait and retry when offline, and the original is not deleted before Drive confirms the upload.
- Choice of transcription mode
- Choose on-device transcription, a supported external provider using a personal API key, or upload-only mode. On-device transcription does not send audio to a speech service.
- Transcript files
- Transcripts are stored as plain files next to recordings in Drive, using a documented format that other agents, scripts, or apps can read.
- Example AI skills for notes
- The recly-notes and recly-notion skills can read a transcript and create notes such as minutes, decision logs, interview notes, lecture notes, or memos. The skills can be edited or adapted.
Works with
- Google Drive
- Transcription providers
- Notion
- AI agent skills
- Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet
Limitations to know
- Galaxy Watch recordings are handed off to the paired phone, which handles upload and transcription.
- On-device transcription does not separate speakers.
- Android and Windows on-device transcription requires a 64-bit device with at least 6 GiB of memory and a one-time download of approximately 1 GB.
- Apple on-device transcription requires iOS or macOS 26, supported hardware, and language assets.
- The Windows app is unsigned, so SmartScreen may warn during installation.
- The page lists 14 external transcription providers, with 8 available on iPhone; supported transcription languages depend on the provider or device engine.
Alternatives to consider
-
Whispering
Choose it if you want an open-source transcription app focused on transparency and control over audio and transcription workflows, rather than Recly's watch recording and Drive-centered flow.
-
Whisper Notes
Choose it if you need fully offline speech-to-text on iPhone or Mac using Whisper models, rather than Recly's choice of on-device or external-provider transcription.
-
StageWhisper Lite
Choose it if you specifically need a Mac call recorder that produces local transcripts, summaries, and action items without uploading audio, rather than Recly's multi-platform recording and Drive storage.
