Starkomand

Starkomand runs coding-agent CLIs on an infinite canvas, keeping task context, agent handoffs, reviews, and previews together. It is for software engineers using a Mac with Apple silicon who want to coordinate agents without replacing their editor or provider subscriptions.

Who it's for

  • Software engineers using Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or other coding-agent CLIs on a Mac with Apple silicon.
  • Developers who want to keep GitHub issues, agent work, diagrams, and browser previews together while working on a project.
  • Engineers using more than one agent who need handoffs, review loops, or visibility into parallel work.

Not the right fit if…

  • People using Intel Macs or Linux: the current version supports Apple silicon Macs and the page says those platforms are not supported.
  • Windows users who need the product now: the Windows version is listed as coming soon.

How it fits your workflow

Install Starkomand on an Apple silicon Mac and use coding-agent CLIs that are already installed and signed in. Pull an issue onto the canvas or give an agent a task, then keep its terminal and task context together in a project workspace.

Ask an agent to make an editable diagram, hand a focused brief to another agent, or use Auto to select a model for a step. Review loops check files before continuing, and the developer makes the final decision.

Open a browser preview beside the agent, check agent status by flipping its window, and use Ports to see or stop development servers. Agents can keep working while the canvas is hidden; a MacBook can stay awake with its lid closed when that setting is enabled.

Key features

Infinite canvas and project workspaces
Arrange agent windows, pinned issue notes, diagrams, and browser previews on a canvas. Each project workspace keeps its own agents, folder, layout, and backdrop.
Agent CLI orchestration
Run installed coding-agent CLIs in separate terminal windows, including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, Grok CLI, OpenCode, GitHub Copilot, Amp, Aider, and Goose.
Task briefs and handoffs
Give agents focused briefs with task criteria and hand work to another agent. Auto can select a model and effort for a step and explain its choice.
Review loops and file guard
Run bounded review rounds that check files before continuing. The file guard helps prevent supported agents from editing or staging files another agent is changing.
Voice control
Hold Option and speak to direct a line to a named agent. Voice is optional; users can also type, drag, and use keyboard shortcuts.
Agent status and catch-up
Flip agent windows with Space to see what each agent worked on, whether it is waiting, its last message, and related files, servers, and pull requests.

Works with

  • Coding-agent CLIs
  • GitHub
  • OpenAI cloud dictation

Limitations to know

  • The current version supports Macs with Apple silicon; Intel Macs and Linux are not supported, and Windows is listed as coming soon.
  • After the three-day trial, a Pro license is required to continue using Starkomand.
  • AI provider plans and usage are billed separately by the providers.
  • Restarting the Mac ends live agent sessions, although the canvas, notes, and task history remain.

Alternatives to consider

  • Catenary

Choose it if you want a local-first spatial IDE that also includes Monaco editors and isolated git worktrees alongside agent terminals.

  • Castforge

Choose it if you want a configurable set of named coding-agent roles, such as Tester or Reviewer, to plan, build, test, and review projects locally.

Getting started

A Mac with Apple silicon. Coding-agent CLIs must be installed and signed in separately to use them.

  1. Download the macOS app.
  2. Install and sign in to the coding-agent CLIs you plan to run.
  3. Start the three-day trial; the page says no Starkomand account or card is required.
  4. Create a project workspace and start with an agent and a task or GitHub issue.

Frequently asked questions

Which computers does Starkomand support?

It supports Macs with Apple silicon. The page says a Windows version is coming soon and that there is no Linux or Intel Mac version for now.

Do I need several agents to get value?

No. You can start with one installed agent to explain code, investigate an issue, or write a plan, and add handoffs or review loops later.

Does Starkomand replace my editor or AI subscription?

No. Starkomand organizes agent sessions and their context alongside your editor. You keep your editor and provider accounts, and providers continue to bill for their plans and usage.

What happens after the three-day trial?

You need Pro to keep using Starkomand. Pro is a one-time purchase for one Mac and includes a year of updates; after that year, you can keep using the version you have.

Do agents keep running when I leave?

They keep working while the local server runs. With the Lid closed setting enabled, a MacBook stays awake while agents work and sleeps a couple of minutes after the last one finishes. Restarting the Mac ends live sessions, but the canvas, notes, and task history stay.

What stays on my Mac?

By default, the workspace, local dictation, and hand tracking stay on the Mac. Cloud dictation is optional and sends audio to OpenAI. A work summary sends terminal context to the provider selected in Privacy settings, only when requested.
