Voidleap Code

Voidleap Code is presented as a full agentic coding environment and control center for 'agentic engineers' who want observability and control over AI-driven development workflows. It runs locally on the user's machine or can call cloud providers the user already pays for; Voidleap emphasizes that nothing about prompts or work flows through Voidleap servers. The product targets developers and teams who need inspectable agent execution, context management, and the ability to mix models and providers without vendor lock-in.

Voidleap Code is a harness for agentic coding, not a wrapper. Runs on your machine, uses your provider keys or a local model, and hides nothing.

Key Features

Local-first privacy and data control

Runs on your machine; bring your own provider keys or run a local model (via Ollama). The site states the architecture is 'locked local - on localhost only' and that Voidleap Code does not see your prompts or code.

Visual context management

Round-by-round visual context curation that lets you drop entries from context to manage bloat and drift, with commands like /context, /trim, /prune, /compact and an 'AI Prune' suggest mode.

Observability and telemetry

Live telemetry and 30+ charts (cost, tokens, latency, cache hit, etc.) with a control center for a live feed across every running thread.

Performance and long-thread handling

Custom virtualizer with predictive height measurement built for long streaming threads to improve performance.

Provider and model flexibility

Use any model with any provider; switch per thread, per agent, or per turn. Supports nine providers and local models with full tool-call parity.

Execution modes and safe command parsing

Four execution modes (Default, Read-only, Careful, Yolo) and AST-aware command parsing that understands paths, redirects, pipes, subshells, and heredocs. Sensitive-path defaults block .ssh, .env*, .aws, .gnupg and optional macOS Seatbelt sandbox.

Customizability

Every agent, skill, hook, slash command, security rule, and system prompt is editable. Configuration scopes include Global, workspace, and project.

Signed desktop releases and auto-updates

Desktop distribution for macOS and Windows with signed releases and auto-update support; no additional build steps required.

Use Cases

Agentic software development

Run, observe, and iterate agent-driven workflows for coding tasks while inspecting each step the agents take and comparing outputs.

Local-model or provider-mixed experimentation

Mix different providers or run local models to compare capabilities and costs without routing data through a third party.

Auditability and team workflows

Audit prompts, system context, and tool calls to improve reproducibility and refine team practices with full observability.

Cost and performance analysis

Monitor cost, tokens, latency, and cache hit rates across agents and threads using built-in charts.

Integrations

Anthropic

Use Anthropic models as an inference provider within Voidleap Code.

OpenAI

Use OpenAI models as an inference provider within Voidleap Code.

Gemini

Use Gemini models as an inference provider within Voidleap Code.

GitHub Copilot

Use GitHub Copilot as a model/provider option.

Ollama

Run local models via Ollama for provider-free, on-machine inference.

LMStudio

Use LMStudio models as a provider option.

OpenRouter

Use OpenRouter as an inference routing provider.

Azure

Use Azure-hosted models as a provider option.

Bedrock

Use Bedrock as a provider option.

Benefits

Full observability into prompts, tool calls, and agent steps so you can audit, debug, and improve workflows.
Local-first design and bring-your-own-keys model to avoid provider lock-in and preserve privacy.
Mix-and-match providers per thread or agent to pick the best model for each task.
Fine-grained context management to prevent drift and control long conversations.
Rich telemetry (30+ charts) for cost and performance insights.

Limitations

Periodic license validation is required to remain offline; after validation you can stay offline for 24 hours.
Desktop distribution is provided for macOS and Windows only (no Linux client mentioned).

Frequently Asked Questions

Where does my code go?
Decoupled inference: the architecture is locked local (localhost only); all application data is stored in ~/.voidleap/. Inference can run via a cloud provider or a local model; Voidleap Code does not see your code.
Can I work without a constant internet connection?
Yes for agent execution when using local models. Voidleap Code requires periodic license validation; once validated you can stay offline for 24 hours.
Can I see what I'm spending?
Yes. 30+ charts cover cost trend, per-model, per-agent, per-thread, per-tool, and cache hit rate — exportable.
What happens when my conversation gets long?
Visual context lets you click any message, tool call, or file and tell the agent to forget it without restarting the thread. AI Prune works in suggest mode for review before removal; slash commands include /context, /trim, /prune, /compact.
Which models can I use?
Nine providers are listed: Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, Ollama, LMStudio, OpenRouter, Azure, Bedrock. You can switch per thread, per agent, or per turn; local models get full tool-call parity.
What can the agent run on my machine?
Four execution modes: Default, Read-only, Careful (approve every action), Yolo. AST-aware command parsing supports paths, redirects, pipes, subshells, and heredocs; sensitive-path defaults block .ssh, .env*, .aws, .gnupg and an optional macOS Seatbelt sandbox is available.
How customizable is it?
Every agent, skill, hook, slash command, security rule, and system prompt is editable through the library or markdown, with three scopes: Global, workspace, and project.
How do I install it?
Install the Desktop app for macOS or Windows. There is no bun, npm, or build step; releases are signed and the app supports auto-updates.

Getting Started

  1. 1 Download the Voidleap Code desktop app for macOS or Windows from the site.
  2. 2 Install the signed release (no bun/npm or build step required); the app supports auto-updates.
  3. 3 Choose inference: bring your own cloud provider keys or run a local model (e.g., via Ollama).
  4. 4 Open the app, create agents or workflows, and configure providers, execution modes, and context management as needed.
